Almost August

I can't believe that August starts this weekend! Summer is coming to a close and Fall is coming.  I am ready for fall.   Fall is hands down my favorite season.  There is no comparison and no you will not be able to convince me of another season.  Do not even bother trying.

I've started working on my goals for August.  Here goes...

One: Finish Carson's Nursery
We are almost there.  We have a few more things to do in his room but this is definitely an attainable goal.

I'm so happy with how his Snoopy and Woodstock theme nursery is coming along.  It is perfect.
Two: Fall Decorations
My plan is to actually decorate our house for Fall the last weekend of August.  I typically do not decorate until late September but I know that our Christmas decorations are going up earlier this year than normal because of Carson's arrival so I want to enjoy my Fall decorations.  I don't want to take all of the time to decorate and it not be up very long.   I'm sure there will be a few Michaels stops in my future or maybe online Kirklands and Hobby Lobby.

Three: Redo Mulch Beds
Last fall, we planted grass seed.  We have been disappointed all summer thinking that our grass really has not spread much.  It has spread some and that has been right in our mulch beds.  Awesome.  We want to get the mulch beds looking decent again in the upcoming weekends.  Let's pray it is not 100 degrees outside.  Our grass has spread more than we thought it had.  Greg showed me pictures of our yard when we bought the house and it is crazy how much the grass seed took.  It's a work in process and most definitely a labor of love.

Four: Read Two Baby Books
I have read some books on pregnancy but I want to slowly start reading books that will help once Carson arrives.  Any suggestions?

I know there are many other things that I would like to accomplish in August but I know I need to limit myself so this is my start.  We will see how August goes.  It is almost pumpkin time people.  That also means candy corn will make multiple appearances in my house.  Yay!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday and that means I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci for Friday Favorites.

I have been so wore out all week.  Work has not been that busy but I think all of last weekends travels have made this pregnant lady sleepy for days.  I think I have been asleep within 5 minutes of hitting the pillow every night this week.

We have done a lot in the nursery this week around our house.  We looked through all of what we brought back from Tennessee last weekend and are slowly trying to put things away.  We may have also purchased the crib mattress and bedding this week.  This nursery is looking more and more like Baby Carson's room every day and we are so excited.  We bought the mattress at Target and with Cartwheel, RedPerks, and our Redcard we saved some serious cash.  Love me some Target deals.

Wednesday night we had dinner at Olive Garden with some friends.  We had such a great time.   Dinner with friends is always a favorite for us.  Laughs and bread sticks are a good combination.

This week is Live Love Serve at our church.  We are having a Food Drive, Clothing Drive, and had Free Pizza Thursday.  Tomorrow we are turning our church into a shopping center.  People from the community can come in and shop for clothes and as they leave they will be handed a bag of groceries.  What an incredible way to show our community that we love them.

Look at all of these clothes from this week.  That is not even all of them.

My biggest favorite this week is Greg.  Over the last few weeks he was having vertigo spells and this week he has not had any.  We think we finally know what was causing it and we are THRILLED that he has had some relief this week.  I have never had vertigo and I would like to keep it that way.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Rocky Top Tennessee

This past weekend, Greg and I went to visit some of my family in Tennessee.  My Dad was coming in from Arkansas so we thought it would be the perfect time for a long weekend trip.

We headed out on Thursday and came back on Sunday.  It was a quick trip but we had a great time.

We came back with a car load too.

Baby Carson's room is currently overflowing with things as we sift through where to put everything.  We came back with a car seat, stroller, pack n play, little rocking chair, diapers, blankets, and so many outfits.  I'm not a Knicks fan, but that Knicks outfit is too cute.

We went out for some Mexican food on Friday to celebrate my Uncle Joe's birthday.  Who knew we would be serenaded by a mariachi band who played Rocky Top?

My Mema also gave me all of my old little dresses from when I was little.  It was so special to look through my dresses and baby blankets with her.  I love family time.

Show and Tell Tuesday: Home Tour

Come and see my home!

I'm linking up with Andrea for Show and Tell Tuesdays.  I am excited to see everyone's homes.

I blogged a while back about our house and you can see that post here.

Here is a quick peak at our cute little house.  We moved in on August 2nd of last year, so we are constantly making changes and updates to it.

Our little house covered in snow.

We love watching our little hummingbirds at our house.  We need some more sugar water for them.

This is our deck from back in February, there is a pond behind our house.  We love where we live.

I love our living room.  It is small and cozy.  We bought our couch at Haverty's.  All of the wall art is from At Home with the exception of our engagement photo canvases.  The curtains are from Target.

This is our master bedroom.  We have made some changes but I forgot to take a current picture of it.  I love the red on the gray walls.

We love the dark wood cabinets and the island.  The dishwasher is in the island which is nice.

Little Carson coming has meant we have some updates to do in the house.  Project nursery is in full swing at the Harrison home.  We bought the two furniture pieces used and spray painted them white.  His walls are a Behr paint from Home Depot called Bluebird.  We loved the color.

I'm not sure why, but I always forget to take a picture of our office.  Shame on me.

I can't wait to see all of the home tour posts.  Happy Tuesday everyone!

See you for the next Show and Tell Tuesday!

Dear Carson, Meet Your Dad

Hey little man, I wanted to introduce you to your Daddy today.

Carson, this is your Dad.

He loves you so much already.  He talks to you everyday and is giddy with excitement when he thinks about meeting you.  He finished painting your furniture for your room this weekend.  It looks so good.  He wants to do anything he can to make sure that you are taken care of.

I'm not sure how much you heard yesterday when your Dad was at church but I think you heard a lot.  In case you don't know, your Dad is probably the loudest person at church every week.  He plays drums for some of the services.  He is hard to miss.  He does a great job and he loves being able to use his God given talent to worship.  He hopes that you will enjoy music as much as he does.  He already talks about wanting to get you drum and piano lessons one day.

After he drums he gets to teach each week.  Yesterday, he finished teaching on 1 John to our middle school class.  He mentioned at the end how he wanted to share his testimony again to our students because many of them have not heard it.  I know he will share it with you when you are older.  I've heard it several times, but one time that stands out the most in my head is when he shared it at the Student Life Camp we went to one day.  Our group was working in a housing project and the majority of the kids there did not have a father figure in their life.  I remember being in tears as he shared.  He shared about the role of his Dad.  He shared that when his Dad was little, his Dad's Dad left them.  He shared that when his Dad grew older he had to make a choice.  He talked about the fact that his Dad chose a different path for himself.  He talked about how even though he rebelled as a teenager and did not want to pursue the things of God, that his Dad and his Mom never stopped sharing the truth with him.  Carson, I am eternally thankful for the fact that your grandparents never stopped sharing the truth with your Dad.  I know that your Dad wants to share that same truth with you.  I know this because I have seen your Dad go into your room and pray for you and weep for you.  He takes the responsibility of raising you to be a man of God extremely serious.

We love you buddy.  We are so thankful for you even now.  We may not know what you look like, what you will be interested in, what career you will choose, but we do know that you are our son.  Thanks for making us parents little man.

I personally think you will look just like your Dad.  You will be all boy, you will be laid back like your Dad, I think you will look like your Dad.  If that's the case, you will have the same look as your Dad.  The look that is basically a smirk, but that is so charming.  I guarantee that you will keep us busy.

Love you Carson!

Friday Favorites

It's Friday!  Hooray.  I'm linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci today for Friday Favorites.

I have been in planning mode like crazy this week.  I feel like I'm thinking so far ahead on things but I know that my life is about to get crazy so time to plan.  Lucky for me, I have this beautiful Erin Condren LifePlanner that is at least making all of the planning fun and colorful.

I've also been excited all week to go baby shopping.  Now that we know our little baby is a boy, I can start looking for boy specific things.  There is a brand new Carter's open near us.  I plan to spend Saturday afternoon looking for things for little man.  There is a Target, Carter's and Babies R Us all right beside each other. Bye Greg, see you in several hours.

I posted yesterday about how I'm ready for Christmas and that it is time to celebrate Christmas in July.  Summer is probably my least favorite season.  I love Fall and I love the anticipation of Christmas.  I would be perfectly content with fall weather year round.  Bring on the pumpkins and cooler weather.

Hello fall, come on and make your appearance.  I'm so thankful that I will be in my third trimester during fall instead of summer.  Woohoo!

Have a great weekend everyone.  If you need me I'll be dreaming of fall and looking at baby boy clothes.

Merry Christmas, Oh Wait it's 90 Something Degrees Outside

Happy Christmas in July!

I am ready to watch some Christmas movies.  I know it is July but I do not care.  Christmas is going to be different this year anyway.  I have already told Greg the decorating is happening earlier than normal so why not watch Christmas movies in July.

I have already watched Christmas with the Kranks.  That movie cracks me up.  Make sure you Free Frosty!

The first one is the best!  The second one was okay and I'm not a fan of the third one.  Tim Allen makes a pretty great Santa!

Say brainless, this is my FAVORITE Christmas movie of all time.  I love it.  George Bailey is wonderful.

I'm sorry for all of you Matilda fans, but the original is the best.  I like the newer version but how do you have this movie and not have Macy's in it.

Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?  Go ahead and let your inner child laugh.

There are so many other great Christmas movies but these are some of my favorites.  I'm sure I'll watch A Charlie Brown Christmas too.  I know it's not techniaclly a movie but it is a must in my house.

Maybe some hot chocolate, Christmas pajamas, Christmas decorating ideas on Pinterest and some baking might be involved too.

Memorizing Scripture

Happy hump day.  Greg and I have been talking lately about memorizing Scripture.  We both can remember general areas of where things are but we are both terrible at memorizing verses and passages.  We have decided to work on this together and to commit the Word of God to our heart.

What ways have you found that are most effective to memorize Scripture?  In the past, I have written out a verse or verses on index cards and carried them around with me.  I would pull it out and review it throughout the day.  I also like using the She Reads Truth lockscreens on my phone.  We are open to suggestions.

Weekend Recap: 4th of July Style

This morning came way too fast.  Greg and I had both been off Thursday and Friday of last week so our alarms this morning were not welcomed.

We had a great long weekend.  We kicked off our weekend by having our 20 week ultrasound for Baby Harrison.  We learned that our sweet baby is a BOY!  We were thrilled.  We decided to celebrate with a quick hibachi lunch before going home to have our small gender reveal dinner with Greg's family.

Our dinner included Smoked BBQ Chicken, Grilled Vegetables, Baked Potatoes, and rolls.  We finished off our dinner with a Homemade Neapolitan Ice Cream Cake.  I layered a half gallon of strawberry ice cream on the bottom of a spring-form pan.  The cookie layer was a package of crushed Oreo's with a bottle of Magic Shell.  The top layer was a half gallon of vanilla ice cream.  It was tasty!  We decided to wrap a baby boy outfit in a box for Greg's Mom and Grandma to open.  That was how they found out about baby boy.  They were so thrilled.  We had made pink lemonade and blue raspberry lemonade as a way of voting.  Everyone except for Greg's Dad picked boy.  Sorry Winston.

Friday morning was painting day for Baby Carson.  Our plan was to just paint one wall as an accent wall in blue and to leave the other three walls gray but we loved the blue color and decided to paint the whole room.

We ended our day having dinner with our friends Cameron and Amy and seeing fireworks.  I thought a Peanut Butter Pie would be a fun dessert.

To make the pie all you have to do is mix a 8 oz package of softened cream cheese, a 14 oz can of Eagle Brand milk, 12 oz of peanut butter, 8 oz of cool whip.  Then fold in a bag of Heath Toffee Bits.  This is supposed to just make one pie but you can easily make two pies out of this.  Just pour your filling into a graham cracker crust and refrigerate for a few hours to let it firm up.  It is so rich, a small piece is plenty.

Saturday we had a family lunch with Greg's family and his sisters boyfriend's family.  I was asked to bring a dessert so I made this yummy fruit pizza.  It is so easy and so very tasty and festive. Saturday night we decided to not fight the traffic of the fireworks so we watched the Macy's Fireworks on TV.  Hello NYC fireworks.

Sunday was baby furniture day.  We set up the crib and our new glider.  They look great.  We ended our weekend cheering on the USWNT to victory in the World Cup.  What a game!  Go USA!

I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July Weekend.

Friday Favorites: It's A ....

It's Friday and that means it is time for Friday Favorites with Andrea, Erika and Narci.

I just have one favorite this week.

Greg and I are having a little baby BOY!

We are going to name our new little bundle of joy, Carson James.

Greg and I were both convinced that it was a girl.  We sure were wrong.  We are so excited to meet our little man.

Have a great 4th of July weekend!  Enjoy grilling, fireworks, and time with your family!
